Mason Stanfield: The Man Behind the Lens

and the Story Behind the Name

Born and raised in the heart of Denver, Colorado, Mason’s story is one of grit, fire, and an unstoppable drive to defy expectations. His life took a drastic turn during his senior year of high school when a skiing accident in Breckenridge left him paralyzed. But instead of letting that moment define his limits, Mason used it as rocket fuel to launch into an extraordinary life.

While many would have given up, Mason rolled into college with determination—and a curious eye for photography. That spark almost got snuffed out when a renowned professor told him to drop out after just one class, claiming he’d never be able to shoot from the “right angles” in a wheelchair. That pissed him off… So—he made photography his mission.

He dove headfirst into everything: portrait photography, landscapes, sports, astro, lighting, film, retouching, compositing—if it had to do with a camera, Mason mastered it. And to make sure no one forgot the man who told him he couldn’t make it, Mason launched his own company: “Crippled Angle Photography”—a sharp-witted, bold tribute to every angle he was told he’d never get.

But that’s just one chapter. While trying to master photography, Mason was also trying to master RADIO— hosting and programming #1 rated stations and award-winning morning shows across Colorado, Minnesota, New Mexico, and Louisiana. And that’s not all. He’s also been a gym owner and elite personal trainer, shaping the physiques and careers of champion athletes, bodybuilders, and fitness competitors.

To top things off, most recently Mason’s sights are set on the world stage—training with Team USA’s Olympic and Paralympic shooting teams with his eye on the 2028 Games, competing in 10m Air Pistol, Sport Pistol, and Rapid Fire Pistol.

Photographer. Broadcaster. Trainer. Paralympic hopeful. Mason is living proof that when the world tells you “You Can’t…” —you just need find a BETTER ANGLE.

Where do I even begin?!? Mason was so wonderful to work with, part of the reason I hired him was his wonderful personality and extremely creative eye for unique pictures. He always responded very quickly to communications. He managed to grasp what style I was looking for in my wedding photos, even when I had didn't know myself. He also managed to capture my silly, sarcastic personality in the photos, which I am so grateful for. Everyone who has seen the photos loves them. He met every photo request that I had (and even some that I didn't know I would have). Would highly recommend him for any photography needs you have. I will definitely be using Crippled Angle Photography again in the future. Thank you so much Mason, for the amazing documentation of our wedding day.
